Brownish Red Crust on Dead Oak Trees


Crust fungus fuscoporia polypore.
Also called cinnamon polypore.  Cinnamon porecrust. 
Synonymous scientific name Phellinus ferreus, phell- meaning cork, while the suffix -inus denotes a superlative, therefore very hard texture.
