Join us in The Villages Banquet Hall on Thursday, November 14 at 10 a.m. to listen to guest speaker and 2022 Washington State Teacher of the Year, Jerad Koepp (Wukchumni) as he shares his knowledge about the cultural significance of oaks and acorns to Native Peoples from California to Washington.
Jerad will also discuss future goals of engaging local elementary students with place-based traditional ecological learning in partnership with the Ovation at Oak Tree community.

I put together 5 picture displays of our native wildflowers.

Two Bucks and Does

Nov. 1 - at Waltons.

There were 5-7 does in this group, plus the buck. 

Two different bucks reported by Dex before I saw these. 

Saw the Same Buck Again

He was standing by the Villages pool. 

Today a short walk because we had to leave for a memorial. 

This was last week. 

A Buck Resting

This buck was resting near the entrance.

Oak Tree Across Trail

Oak tree down - past the corral.

It was across the trail but someone pulled it to the side.

Top broke off.

Root looks rotted. 

Daily Walk and Big Oak

Started walking 2 miles a day all this week. 

Bald-faced Hornet's Nest.

A bald-faced hornet's nest fell out of tree and landed on the top step of the stairs.

The design if beautiful.

A bald-faced hornet slowly crawled out of the hole. 

It got kicked down the hill. Oct. 22. 

Lots of combing inside, no hornets. 

Serviceberry

Found this serviceberry in my back wall flower bed.

Nice root, with bio-tone.

Planted in corner by the fig tree.

This tree is at the end of Bowthorpe.

 

Deer Family

This same 5 deer in the same place 2 days in a row. 

 

Young Buck in the Preserve

Today I saw several does and young ones dashing across the trail. 

Then I saw this young buck following them.

Cigarette Butts in Preserve.

About a dozen cigarette butts next to the trail by the fence. 

I picked them up wearing gloves.
