Cascade grass-of-Parnassus is an attractive perennial wildflower with single or clustered stems from 11.5-35 cm high arising from a cluster of basal leaves atop a stout rootstock and elongated rhizomes. The herbage of both the stems and leaves is glabrous (smooth, not hairs).

Tuft upright to spreading. Leaves round or heart-shaped. Flowers held well above leaves, 5 white oval petals with fringed edges near center. A stamen-like gland on top of each petal has 9 or fewer flat lobes with rounded tips. Grows in wet meadows, rocky seeps, in all elevations.
