Dwarf Owl's Clover

 Triphysaria pusilla

Dwarf Owl's Clover
Stem slender, branched, prostrate, with growing tips turned upward. Leaves tiny, lobed many times, often coated with fine purplish or yellow-brown hairs. Tiny flowers hidden among bracts, reddish purple or sometimes yellow, include 3 shallow pouches below hooked beak. Grows in grasslands at low elevations.

It is an annual.
It is a native.
The true clovers are all members of the Trifolium genus, and the Fabaceae or pea family. We found four of these that are native to Washington, including Trifolium fucatum (bull clover),  Trifolium macrocephalum (largehead clover), Trifolium willdenowii (tomcat clover) and Trifolium wormskioldii (cows clover).

Native plants are the foundation of local ecosystems.
The plants themselves are part of this community.
Native plants have been part of their environment for so long, they are interconnected with fungal networks, soil health, and wildlife in a way that farmed species and humans are not.

Chocolate Lily Buds

These buds are close to opening.
