Goldfinches on the Fountain

Goldfinches are regular visitors to the fountain. 

Camas Colors

All the camas in the meadow are finished blooming

These darker and lighter shades are to the left of the meadow.

Nuthatch Nest

I was  holding my Merlin sound ID up to the nest when this parent flew up.

It looks like it is feeding someone inside the hole.

 

Owl Corner Markings

I put a couple of owl figurines in owl corner.

 

Owl Sighting!

I saw the owl move to this tree.

Down the short trail to Bowthorpe and saw it.

Crept under the tree and got a couple of pictures!

Apparently there are 2 owlets nearby. 

This might be the male. 

Chocolate Lily

Chocolate lily turned it's face to the sun this morning. 

At the entrance by Schmitz. 

 

Sunflower Seedlings

 I found 5 sunflower seedlings in my nursery patch in the preserve.
Wonder how they will do out there!

These three blossoms are finally open.

They are at the entrance to the preserve by Schmitz Ct. 

 

California Poppy Flowers

California poppy flowers behind houses on Oakwood in retention pond area. 

Potato Vine

This might be a native potato vine.

 

Blue Swallows

This swallow pair with sticks for their nest.

Going in and out of the house!!

Nuthatch Bird

 

I got a picture of the nuthatch near it's nest.

Moving Shooting Stars

These were on the edge of the gravel.

Moved to the front of the homestead area. 

More Camas

This camas group is by the shortcut to Bowthorpe.

I planted a couple of rescued shooting star plants in front of the camas.

Wild Red Currants

I think these are red currants.

The bush is growing on a dead log. 

Don't know if the birds will let me have some.

Bluebells

Bluebells by the homestead house.

Saskatoon Serviceberry - 2022

Discovered this Saskatoon serviceberry flower today.

Looks like it might be behind the barbwire fence. 

Robin's Nest

Robin's nest in front of Kristina's house.

I watched this very distraught robin as she watched the crows raid her eggs.
